Tokenization Is Growing Rapidly: But What Comes After Stocks?

The Next Chapter of Digital Finance Could Extend to Real-World Assets

“Tokenizing stocks changes how we access financial markets.

Tokenizing physical assets could change how we participate in the economy itself.”

Something significant is happening in the world of digital finance. According to an October 2026 report from The Block Research, the value of real-world assets represented on blockchain networks climbed from approximately $10 billion in early 2025 to a peak of $39.3 billion in September 2026. That’s nearly fourfold growth in less than two years. But what’s particularly interesting is where that growth is occurring.

Wall Street Is Going Digital

Tokenized stocks have become one of the fastest-growing segments of the market. Their on-chain value increased from $678 million at the beginning of 2026 to $3.15 billion by September. Even more remarkable, tokenized equities accounted for approximately 82% of reported RWA holders. Platforms such as Binance’s bStocks and Ondo are demonstrating growing interest in accessing traditional financial securities through blockchain technology. But here’s an interesting question. Why limit tokenization to financial instruments that already exist?

What About the Physical Assets Behind Our Economy?

That’s where LiquidAcre’s vision takes a different approach. Rather than concentrating primarily on tokenizing publicly traded securities, LiquidAcre is exploring opportunities involving tangible, productive assets. Consider apartment communities generating rental income, power plants producing electricity, data centers supporting artificial intelligence, or commercial land being developed. These investments traditionally require substantial capital, specialized relationships, and complicated ownership structures. Properly structured tokenization could potentially allow eligible investors to participate through smaller economic interests. The token represents the investment. The physical asset generates its underlying economic value.

Why Does This Matter?

For developers, tokenization could introduce additional financing channels. For investors, it may create access to opportunities traditionally difficult to participate in directly. And for asset owners, blockchain infrastructure could simplify ownership records, distributions, and administrative processes. However, digital ownership doesn’t eliminate real-world risks. Properties still require management, financing, maintenance, and customers. Tokenization also doesn’t guarantee liquidity, profitability, or investment returns.

Conclusion: Beyond Digital Stocks

The Block’s research demonstrates that blockchain-based financial markets are expanding rapidly, particularly around traditional securities. LiquidAcre’s approach explores extending those capabilities to the physical assets that support economic activity. Both represent potential developments in digital finance. The next chapter of tokenization may be less about changing how we trade stocks and more about creating new ways to participate in the productive assets that power our world.
